Born in Downers Grove, Illinois, with a telephone engineer father and a cafe owner mother, Richards was raised within Downers Grove and Mokena alongside her sister Michelle. El Camino High School in Downers Grove North High School was where she received her schooling. After her high school graduation was over, she began her career as a model. She traveled to famous cities such as Paris, Tokyo, and New York to do photo shoots as well as commercials. She eventually ventured into acting. She is a passionate animal lover. Richards is a part of a number of organizations that provide for the protection of animals. Her family has raised pet and dog for several years.
