Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is the American basketball professional for the Dallas Wings in the Women's National Basketball Association. The basketball team she played for was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, prior to her being picked by the Wings as the 5th overall pick of the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale, born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2, 1997 to Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale was her 26-year-old brother, and Dare Ogunbowale, 20 years older. She was the youngest child in her family and her parents spoilt her the best. The father of her Gregory was to the Nigerian Army for quite some period of time. Ogunbowale comes from a lively family. Her brother Dare played football and Yolanda was her mom. She used to play softball. The cousin Endia Olive is also a volleyball player in Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was on the college's Honour Roll for three years consecutively. Apart from her fame, she's received numerous honors during her studies. Arike did her graduation from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School situated in her hometown. She was a varsity player for three seasons during her time at school. Ogunbowale steered her school to spectacular victories through her amazing skills multiple times. Over her high school career, she has compiled 1,477 points with 739 rebound. Ogunbowale was awarded gold medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2014. FIBA U17 World Championship, and the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. In July 2014, she was selected to join the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale also has been named as a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team after her debut collegiate season. She was even congratulated by the legendary Kobe Bryant after she hit several big shots at the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale is, despite being an absolute newcomer to the basketball game, has already established herself as an elite player. She will surely succeed in her professional career.
